Chris Devlin

Smooth...

Our resident server, Chris, has been with us since the beginning. He’s here almost every day whether it’s explaining the specials with great confidence and passion or baby sitting his his band during our Sunday jazz brunch.  He’s a consumate professional and easily the best dressed man in Cobourg. Chris kills us with his deep witted humour and states St. Patrick’s Day as his favorite holiday because it’s “just like Christmas, but without the crying”

Luke Knor

He's strong.

Luca Debrightside is his Italian name. He lights up the kitchen. Pure energy and positivity, he makes the nights go by quickly with gut busting laughter and is know for his unforgettable renditions of Colin James’, Chicks with Cars. He’s a cartoon. He laughs harder than any of us ever have, and he does it at nothing. A true inspiration and lover of life. Buy him a drink, you’ll make a friend for life. Buy him three or four and you’ll have a night that may be a little foggy, but one you will remember for the rest of your life.

Maureen Maki

Moe, as we know her around here is a pure delight. She is now, however, a professional baby maker now and we only get to see her once a week or so. She is a great mom and dynamite wife and a treat to be served by. We adore her patience and ability to multi task (a trait that most likely lends well to being a mom). Come see her on Saturday nights before she pops her next one out this summer. I’d tell you to buy her a Corona, but I think she would deny until the fall.

Rebecca Stinson

Known around here as “Rebo”, she is easily the craziest of the bunch. It’s not surprising to see her running in the restuarant and walking herself (verbally) through every step she takes. She is wonderful. Rebo has been here longer than any of us. I think she’s coming up on 12 years! Told you she was crazy. She loves to read, enjoys a tall one after work and is a particular fan of the venison sausage. Meticulous, motherly and gracious – just don’t call her Becky or she’ll rip your ear off. Love ya!

Tobias Knor

Prepared.

Tobias (Toby for short) has lost all of his hair but sports a clean dome better than anyone I have ever met! He’s also really quite good at preparing cheesecakes and baking our delicious bread! He is a connoisseur of the tuba and enjoys the tiny bubbles in a Waupoos Cider. Favorite movies include almost the exact opposite of everything I (Jeff) think is terrible. He does, however, have great taste in comedy, ranking Tommy Boy right near the top. Thank god.

Johnny Devlin – Chef / Proprietor

Johnny is a relentless workhorse. He did, however, take a day off back in 2009 for a pre-natal class before his first child, Gracie, was born. He then, in 2010 took another day off so he could be there with his wife as they had their second child, Charlie. He’s a baby makin’ machine. What can we say? He’s also a dynamite chef and an overall pleasure to be around. When he’s working away in the kitchen you can here him singing along in perfect harmony to anything from The Police to Prince. Less Prince, though. He is a paperless journeyman chef, and when I am asked where he received his training, I like to say Shoeless Joe’s. He’s passionate and bright and you need nothing more to be successful at anything. If you haven’t tried his food, do it now. You won’t regret it. He also loves puppies and kitties.

Good, 'n' you?

The Northside

In March of 2008,  Johnny, Jeff and a couple of friends went to the city to indulge in all it has to offer. Over dinner, the fellas spoke of their discontent in their current positions and their desire to better their careers. After a couple of meetings discussing the possible location/concept etc. etc. of their “soon to be restaurant”, Johnny’s old boss offered him the restaurant that he was currently the chef at. From their Jeff and Johnny were faced with a big decision. To stay, or to go. After weighing their options the boys decided to give it a shot, as they were both big fans of the restaurant to begin with. From there, The Northside was established in June of 2008.

Since opening their doors, The Northside has underwent significant changes, including an entire interior renovation, and a major menu overhauling. The boys have earned themselves 2 best fining dining awards in the County of Northumberland and have been nominated for a Business Acheivment award in both the Emerging Business category as well as the Hospitality and Tourism category. Johnny has been featured at the “Savour Ontario” event held in Toronto, which celebrates the slow food movement, and also has his recipes featured monthly in an area magazine.

There are big plans for The Northside over the next couple of years, so keep your ears to the ground and your mouths to the forks. Join us and see what all the hype is about!

Jeffrey Bray – Manager / Proprietor

Revered by his peers and considered a modern day business genius, Jeff went to school and collected two degrees at Prinston. After he received his masters in both Business and Anthropology, Jeff traveled the world with a group of philanthropists, stopping in Kenya, some small villages in South East Asia and a few small towns outside of India’s capital, Delhi on a mission to inspire the youth with the belief that anything is possible.

Maybe I should have someone else write my biography. None of that is true, sadly. I am a pretty decent fella though. I work hard and I am always learning. I have no post secondary education but I consider myself to have a PHD from the School of Hard Knocks. I’m 5’6″ and single. I live with my brother and enjoy reading and shootin’ hoops. I have a blog that is somewhat true and somewhat fals and shows me in a light that not many are used to. I won’t put a link to it because I am embarrassed. You can do your research if you are really interested. Love ya’s!

Mustache.
