Has Merryweather stolen the closer spot from Romano?

With a 100 mph fastball and great off-speed stuff, Julian Merryweather looks to have the tools needed to lock down the closer role for the Toronto Blue Jays.

If he can stay healthy, he can be a great weapon for the Jays. Merryweather has had numerous injury issues throughout his career, including undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2018. His inability to stay on the field is the reason he made his MLB debut at the age of 28 in 2020.

Can Blue Jays fans have high hopes for this season? I say yes. Get your Jays gear ready, it is going to be a season where we can be proud of our squad and will get good use out of our memorabilia as we watch them push for a playoff spot all season long.

The Toronto Blue Jays have started the 2021 season with a series win against the AL East favourite New York Yankees. Entering 2021, the Yankees are predicted to run away with the AL East and represent the AL in the World Series in 2021.

Do you agree with the pundits in their prediction?

If the Blue Jays have any say in the matter, they would say no way. With their play in this opening series, it could possibly be a toss up for who wins their way to the World Series.

I know it is way too early to predict what is going to happen this year, but with their showing in the Bronx against the Yankees, Toronto is making a statement that they will not let the Yankees get too comfortable.

If their young guns can play well and bullpen arms like Jordan Romano and Julian Merryweather can consistently close out games the Yankees will be keeping an eye on the young team up north.

Now off to Texas to see if they can keep momentum with wins against the rebuilding Texas Rangers.

Now if only we can get them back to the Rogers Centre where we can cheer them on in person, that would be sweet.

I know I miss going to a Jays game and I’m willing to bet most of you do too.
