I was born and raised in Montreal, which is known for it’s fabulous cuisine. I was fortunate enough to have experienced some of the most exquisite fare my city has to offer. Now living in Cobourg, I have found “The Northside” to be one of only two restaurants in Northumberland County which can satisfy my spoiled palate. The atmosphere is hip and intimate, the service is always warm and friendly, and the food and wine never fail to tantalize my tastebuds. Thanks to all of you at Northside for making every visit a special treat. Love you!!!!
The Northside is one of my favourite restaurants anywhere, not just in Cobourg. The food, atmosphere, and service are amazing. Everything consistently lives up to the high expectations that I give all of my friends when I insist they visit to experience the Northside themselves. It’s the perfect place for an intimate dinner or special events – we had our class 30th reunion there and people are still talking about it!
I’ve lived in Toronto and Vancouver and dined at their finest restaurants . . . . The Northside would do well in either city. Great service and fabulous food. Only thing is they’d have to raise their prices and it would be a long drive. So please stay here!

I finally had the opportunity recently to enjoy the fare at the Northside. I must say I was very impressed. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere cozy and comfortable and the food was fantastic. I was born and raised here in this beautiful little town and it’s nice to see some finer dining restaurants in the area. Way to go…I’ll definitely be back!
I can’t say enough good things about the Northside. We are fairly new to Cobourg and have tried most of the recommended restaurants in the area now. The Northside is definitely our top pick. We have never had a bad or even ok meal, they have always been fantastic, no matter what we’ve picked from the menu. Can’t wait to attend the wine tasting night. What a great compliment to an already amazing restaurant!

I have eaten there 2 times. The first time was amazing. Tuna Fish Sandwich and I don’t mean from a can either. Beautifully seared tuna, rare, with a wasabi mayo, Curried Carrot Soup. Presentation was superb, staff was amazing and great attention to detail. I decided to take my wife out for lunch and she absolutely loved it.
Meal: Eggplant and Goatcheese Tapas (Very much like an Eggplant Parmesan) It melted in our mouths.
She had the Tandoori Chicken and Raita Sandwich with Caesar Salad
I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a Rootbeer BBQ Sauce. This should be on the menu for the summer! Smoked Gouda!!!! what a flavour. I had the Frites with the sandwich, they were also great.
We couldn’t resist to have dessert. We normally share but when my wife saw the Chocolate, Peanut Butter Fudge Cake, she couldn’t refuse. I had to have the Cheesecake special. Thrilla from Vanilla. This thing was chalk full of Vanilla and you could see the real vanilla streak within.
One of the best meals I have had in a very long time.
Well, I would like to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way the Northside is now run by the newer management. I have eaten there in the previous years and considered going back but now, I wouldn’t go anywhere else for any occasion. The staff is very attentive and outgoing (I’ve only had Troy, Kim, and Chris) but they are the best! The food portions are unbelievable and never-mind the quality! The northside Grill is the BEST restaurant in Cobourg by far. Keep up the great work guys, CHEERS!

I travel fairly frequently for work throughout North American and am fortunate to be able to eat in some very nice “fine dining” restaurants. I recently had lunch at the Northside and was as impressed as I was told I’d be. I would place their mouth watering food as one of the top 4 restaurants that’ve eaten in. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Great Job!
All I can say is just order as many tapas as you can handle and go at it. Golly they were good. Our group of gals had a grand time.

It’s simple– The Northside is Cobourg’s finest in fine dining. My partner and I dine at the Northside regularly (twice monthly) and we are never bored and always pleased. The food and the people are consistently wonderful. Keep it up!

The best dining experience in Cobourg. You have to try the venison sausage (personal favorite).

Once again, an exceptional evening! I had one of the specials: an awesome baked orange roughy with grilled asparagus and a crab sauce with big chunks of crab served over basmati rice- lighter than it sounds and oh so flavourful. My starter was also a special: mussels steamed in orange, ginger and saffron butter. Jack Danoels ice cream was a sweet surprise and the hand made chocolate truffles to die for!
These meals are great portions – not little decorations on the plate! The wine list is reasonable and the service: impeccable! Knowledgeable, professionals who enloy their work.
I’ll agree this is like a restaurant in Toronto, or Montreal – except it’s not – it’s right here in Cobourg – and aren’t we lucky!
We love this place!! It is so nice that we have found our favorite restaurant right here in our own little town. The food is amazing. The atmosphere and staff add to the wonderful dining experience. We have had pretty much everything on the menu and never been disappointed. The steaks are superb and the venison sausage is one of our favorite appetizers. I would not think about celebrating any occasion anywhere but here. Our hats go off to Jeff and Jonnie for giving us this wonderful restaurant
