It’s official: We have Spicy P for another four years.
He was instrumental throughout the entire season last year, which brought Toronto its’ first Championship in NBA history.
Siakam, 25, was due to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2020. This deal was crucial to the success of the Raptors this coming season.
After a breakout season, Siakam was awarded NBA’s Most Improved Player. He put up an average of 16.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Let’s also not forget that he shot 54.9 per cent from the field, and 36.9 per cent from behind the arc.
The six-foot-nine power forward was selected in the first round by the Raptors in 2016. He was drafted from New Mexico State University, and was the twenty-seventh pick overall.
Siakam is expected to step into a bigger role on the Raptors roster this year, after Kawhi Leonard signed a deal with the L.A. Clippers shortly after the championship game.
As Toronto looks to the future of the Raptors, we can be sure that Spicy P will continue to be a key player in our successes, and will surpass the expectations that lie ahead of him.
