In the midst of a tame summer, Toronto Maple Leafs fans and writers are itching for rumors and news pertaining to their beloved team. Fortunately, with the NHL’s first set of preseason games merely one month away, league news should begin to pile up soon. Today, I will sum up every morsel of Leafs rumors and news we’ve had from July 31st-present.
The Toronto Maple Leafs Rumor Thread
July 31: Dan Rosen of NHL.com penned some possible offer sheet targets around the league. Mitch Marner was not named.

August 2: James Mirtle of The Athletic reported the Toronto Maple Leafs had offered Mitch Marner’s camp three separate deals – a three, six, and seven-year deal worth between $9-$11 million per season.
On the same day, Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas told TSN that talks between Marner’s camp and the organization were ‘status quo’.

August 11: John Tavares spoke about the Mitch Marner negotiations to TSN.ca, and seemed relatively unconcerned but recognized his linemates importance to the team.

August 15: Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston appeared on the Tim & Sid show, and said he believes Mitch Marner’s camp is asking for a number figure in the $11 million per year range. However, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been steadfast with their offers of $10 million-$10.5 million.
